For the first time in 20 years the Governor of West Sumatra visited the Mentawais. Governor Gamawan Fauzi called a meeting of all West Sumatra's regional leaders (Bupatis) for a historic coordination meeting in Tua Pajet, the islands administrative center. Telkom sent their team out on Electric Lamb to join the meetings and to inaugurate a new internet service for the islands.
