STOP PRESS: Corporate Sponsors can suppport HeliDoc's service by sponsoring logo placement on Dr Derek Allen's helicopter. What Happens to Donations?
Funds will be used for the rental & running costs of the HeliDoc flying doctor service our aid boats and for the purchase of family care buckets, tents, lamps, stoves, mosquito nets, water makers, pumps, fuel and medical supplies. We have been approached to carry emergency medical teams from many nations and organizations and your donations get them to areas beyond the reach of even the largest agencies. Our key strength is that we can respond quickly and identify areas overlooked in the confusion following natural disasters in our region.
In addition to our helicopter and boat based operations, ISLAND-AID is working with Artisanal fishermen and fishing communities to develop new boat designs and build boat kits for supply to remote locations.
ISLAND-AID health initiatives continue in the Gomo sub-regency of Nias where we work with Dr Fasa Laia to upgrade health facilities and services, support sponsorship of students and provide overseas treatment to children with medical conditions that can not be treated in Indonesia.
We help others reach the people in greatest need directly without compromising the safety of participants. If you would prefer to donate something other than money, look at our Donate Resources list. We will go where the need is greatest and our first priority is "ground zero" for as long as it takes. After that we will focus on remote villages especially in Simeulue, the Banyaks, Nias and the Mentawais.

On December 26, 2004, the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia was rocked by one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history. The tsunami that followed had a devastating affect on the region. Many small coastal towns were left inaccessible by road. ELM was formed to bring aid to these remote areas. ELM has grown and expanded it's mission to support isolated island communities in Indonesia and the region. We are now called ISLAND AID Organization.
